As the prologue unfolds you are enveloped in the fantastical world of Alkaya, filled with mythical creatures, where the perfect society is destroyed by the great dragon and his ultimate agent of chaos Harkane. With the creation of the Empyros by the Alkayans, four warriors force back Harkane and his Repticon forces, ultimately imprisoning the dark plague. The shattered civilization has been corrupted and struggles to regain their utopia. Abandoned by the creators the Alkayans seal the Empyros away only to become a forgotten Legend. Thousand of years have passed, the seal has weakened on the prison. Harkane is coming... A secret team is being assembled by the High council of Alkaya to recover the lost Empyros. Jaypar Prakkari the mysterious Night Elf Rogue, Bantam Pemburu the Repticon hunter. Kolobar Avlossa the Alkayan Fire shaman, and Ferrick Vatten the whale man warrior are recruited by the high elf holy Paladin Sabia Massue. In this first installment of a seven part series we follow our four main characters on an epic journey spanning the four corners of Alkaya revealing the legend of Empyro.

This is a book for readers who appreciate when another sentient being who has seen his share of living shares his inner creative world. And that this author does. Set in an alternate-universe Earth, this book is composed at first of a series of, literally, character-sketches. These are rendered both textually and visually. Thus the book, despite its violent & sensual adult-fantasy foundation, also charmingly serves as a de facto child's colouring book. Said character-sketches are interspersed with vignettes of action, and then completed by the start of what is eventually to be a seven-part adventure involving epic fights & elemental magic, with good elves & manimals versus evil reptilian fascists. Add to that a quirky narration that is sometimes reminiscent of Vonnegut, Kesey or Burroughs, and the open-minded reader is in for a treat. My only complaint about this publication is about the publisher itself, which did disservice by some occasional & annoying grammatical misediting. In any event, I would have rated this book higher, but that I think this author has yet to create his best work in the future. All told, I enjoyed it! ~ JHProduct details

Alkaya The Legend of Empyro Konrad McKane 9781462876297 Books Reviews
High Elf, High on Acid, Attacks Woman's BMW With a Sword, publicity stunt I think not. Must have been a great trip!
BMW is the Hogo Boss of Sauron's regime. It's high time we started boycotting them, or stabbing them with master swords. Konrad has taken a stand. Shall we stand with him?
Transcend the boundaries of reality! Enter the legend of Empyro; empower your inner elf to battle Morgoth. Hubcap bucklers encouraged.
I just have to come out and say how glad I am that someone is standing up to Morgoth. Someone had to stop him from setting loose all these rampaging orcs, and the taxation on our dwarven neighbors to the north has gotten completely out of hand. In today's politically correct atmosphere it has been impossible to criticize him without being denounced as a racist. I have nothing against the Ainur. One of my best friends is an Ainur and he doesn't think I'm racist at all. But when you see a pattern of repeated turning to darkness, it's only reasonable to draw some conclusions. I'm just saying I don't think it's uncalled-for if we do a little extra screening on Ainur and let the Huorns have a pass. When was the last time you saw a Huorn falling into shadow? That's what I thought. It's just common sense, which we could frankly stand to have a lot more of in this country.
"The story of Alkaya began for Konrad when he was 12." We can tell.
Gods, where to start? You've read the preview, right? How many has this actually sold to be proclaimed a "#1 bestseller" that is "celebrated at once for its astonishing power..." I can't even finish this sentence.
Just read the first paragraph of chapter one. It immediately jumps into rationalizing. You're given no opportunity to even attempt to suspend your disbelief. Which is probably good, because what I've read so far is pretty unbelievable. Just... no. No, no.
And the dialog. Oh sweet merciful gods, the dialog...
Then I looked up Xlibris and understood. "Self publishing and print on demand company." Yes... it all becomes clear.
If nothing else, this should give hope to future authors out there who are self-critical and fear their work will flop. It's an anything-goes world out there. So please, please, write something good. For the future of humanity, please!
Writes about hyper intelligence and makes the reader feel like their part of their world. A sense of belonging and why things are the way they are in this evil world of hours. Konrad Mckane wrote this book at age 12 triggered by a Manic Episode triggering his full fledge imagination tapping into the underworld of hyper intelligent beings.
Konrad is amazing!
